Hype is a men’s magazine about the latest trends. Hype’s editorial policy is something like Monocle’s — mixed with the spirit of Squire and Wired. The magazine is full of reports and articles, some interviews, showrooms, and a cultural agenda.
The idea for the design was to make two covers in one, using a flap. The first cover — the visible one — would be a practical photograph about the main article. The second cover, hidden by the first one, would be an illustration about the same article. The magazine will use a different artist each month to illustrate the cover. For this presentation, I did all the illustrations as examples for the look and feel. This approach adds extra value to the magazine, making each issue a collector's item.
